Cuchulaine Films

OUR NAME - We take our name from the legendary Irish Chieftain Cú Chulainn whose statue stands in the G.P.O. in Dublin. We won the Cork Film Festival and the trophy was a bronze cast statue of Cuchulaine, so being of Irish descent we decided this was the name for us.

ABOUT - Our director/producer, Patrick Amery, has directed over 60 movies, he has won Film Festivals all around the world, Australia, Portugal, Canada, London, Malta, Cork, New Zealand, USA and United Kingdom being just a few of them. Patrick has also written for mainstream television, directed movies that have been shown in the commercial cinema (supporting E.T, Gremlins and A View To A Kill etc), he also directed the well known actor Gordon Jackson in one movie. Patrick has worked and photographed for a number of international magazines.

THE FUTURE - We have a number of exciting productions planned for the future including:

WarChild is coming in 2010

WarChild is an exciting mix of dance, music, CGI Special FX and poetry. This production is literally like nothing you have seen before. The horror of war together with the pulse of Heavy Metal music, the poetry of men too young to die.

We will be donating a portion of the sale of every WarChild DVD to an anti-war charity.

AMARGEDDON is coming in 2010

A mixture of live action, CGI (Computer Generated Images), narration and rock music ARMAGEDDON is a cross between WAR OF THE WORLDS and THE TERMINATOR, but it also has our unigue CGI as produced by THE IMAGE BOX with music created and performed by SIMON WRIGHT. Narration is by GARETH OWEN. Directed by JONATHAN HAWK.

"It had all seemed so safe, so simple, so clever – in the beginning.
Soon all the drudgery would be taken away - they said.
All these clever little things would wash our clothes, wash our dishes.
Control the heating of our houses, run our cars, write our letters.
It would be The New Golden Age – they said.
Man, and now of course Woman, would have so much freedom.
We could write our poems, go on holidays, play with our children.......

.......Soon they could easily surpass the finest human minds, chess Grand Masters were beaten by computers and still we did not see, still we did not realise the danger of teaching machines to win.
We had created them in our own image but we could always control them – they said.
And slowly and surely we gave them mastery.
Robots built our cars, controlled our world.
Clever defence systems kept us safe – they called it Star Wars Technology, Strategic Defence, First Strike, never to be used, of course, just in case – they said.
But we had taught the clever machines that it was clever to win, we had built the clever machines that could defeat the human race – and from that moment –
We were doomed."

Check out our great range of films in out back catalogue

We have a long traditional of film making at Cuchulaine Films and some cracking titles in our back catalogue. For example there is Lost Hearts the recent modern reworking of the classic M.R. James Gothic short story from 1893. We have given this oustanding ghost/horror story a completely different slant by setting it in modern times, which makes it more accessible to today's audiences. Lost Hearts is one truly "scary" story that has thrilled and terrified audiences for well over 100 years.

See our Back Catalogue for more details on this and other great films

Cú Chulainn was called Sétanta (Setanta or Setante) at birth. His name was to change to Cé Chulainn when he was still a boy; he killed great hound belonging to Culann, a master-smith. The name Cú Chulainn means, "Hound of Culann".
